Everything you might wish to know before you arrive — gathered for you with care. If your question isn’t here, we would be glad to answer it personally.
Yes. Every extended fasting protocol at Mentis is overseen directly by Dr. Jen Pfleghaar, a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician. You’ll complete a health intake before arrival, and our medical team provides daily check-ins and monitoring throughout your stay. Fasting is approached gently and individually — never as a one-size-fits-all program — so that your experience is both safe and deeply restorative.
Mentis is designed for adults who are ready to reset their metabolic health, calm a dysregulated nervous system, and reconnect with clarity and purpose. Supervised fasting is well-tolerated by most healthy adults. However, it is not appropriate for everyone — including those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have type 1 diabetes, a history of disordered eating, or certain cardiac conditions. If you have an existing health condition or take prescription medication, we ask that you consult your physician and complete our intake process so our team can advise you before booking.
Once your place is confirmed, you’ll receive a preparation guide ahead of your arrival. In the days leading up to the retreat, guests are generally encouraged to ease gradually away from processed foods, caffeine, sugar, and alcohol — allowing the body to transition smoothly rather than abruptly. Arriving prepared makes the first days far more comfortable. We’ll walk you through everything, so there’s no guesswork.
Each day weaves together the nine pillars of the Mentis experience — beginning with movement and grounding, flowing into guided meditation and breathwork, expert lectures, and afternoon workshops. Fasting protocols, red light therapy, and rest are layered throughout, with metabolically supportive meals served during refeeding windows. The rhythm is intentional: structure where it heals, and stillness where it restores.
The Day Ticket (November 3–7, five days) is for off-site attendees who wish to join the daytime programme. Sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily and include lectures, workshops, movement, and therapies, along with a delicious, metabolically supportive lunch each day. Day Ticket guests also receive one 15-minute private consultation with Dr. Jen Pfleghaar and arrange their own accommodation nearby.
The Retreat Guest experience (November 1–10, ten days) is the full immersion: on-site residence in a private setting, the complete ten-day programme, medically supervised extended fasting, and the full Four Agreements workshop. Retreat Guests enjoy both a delicious lunch and dinner each day, and have access to a 15-minute private consultation with Dr. Jen every day of the retreat. Every meal and modality is included. It is the deepest and most transformative way to experience Mentis.
Mentis takes place in a private, exclusive setting in Tampa, Florida. To preserve the intimacy and privacy of the experience, the exact address and property details are shared only with confirmed guests after booking.
All meals at Mentis are crafted to support metabolic health — nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory, and designed to nourish the body during refeeding. Our culinary approach draws on ancestral, whole-food principles championed by our faculty, with every plate intended to fuel deep healing rather than simply satisfy. Dietary needs and sensitivities are accommodated; you’ll share these with us ahead of arrival.
We’ll provide a complete arrival guide once you’re booked, but in essence: comfortable layered clothing for movement and lectures, and an openness to the process. Each guest receives a Mentis journal on arrival, so your space for reflection is already prepared.
We recommend Retreat Guests avoid scheduling departure for the final day of the programme. Breaking an extended fast is a gradual process, and the closing day is an integral part of it — a gentle, unhurried transition that lets the body settle and the experience fully integrate. Plan to travel home the day after the programme ends so you can close this chapter without rushing.
